Things to do in Victoria, BC in April

2024 Edition!

Community events, markets, and family-friendly fun for time outdoors, creativity, and connection in Victoria, BC this April.

Move Outdoors: 

Esquimalt 5K & Kids 1K Fun Run (April 13, 9AM):  A fun run with the community, taking you through Saxe Point Park and Macaulay Park–with ocean and mountain views! Join the Esquimalt Recreation Team in the Archie Browning Sports Centre for post-run snacks, games, prizes, and a bouncy castle. 

TC10K (April 28): The TC10K is making a ‘90s comeback! Celebrate the 35th annual TC10K event, which kicked off in 1990. Neon gear encouraged! Post-race snacks provided by Thrifty Foods. 

Yoga at the Orchard at Junction Cidery (April 6, 13, 20, 10AM-11AM): *Bring your own mat, beginner friendly!* Enjoy a slow flow yoga class in the heart of nature.

Markets: 

Esquimalt Farmers Market at Memorial Park (Thursdays from 4:30-7:30PM starting April 4): A selection of over  a hundred local vendors that make, bake, and grow local goods.

Moss Street Indoor Market at Sir James Douglas School (Saturdays through April from 10am-1pm): Enjoy live music, local vendors, and food and beverages available to enjoy at the market, and take home! 

Home and Garden Market at Bilson Creek Farm (April 5-7, 11AM-4PM): Gain inspiration for the season ahead! This market brings together vendors and local makers with ideas and wares for your home and garden. Hide N Seek and Country Crepes on-site for delicious food options to fuel your market experience. 

Orchard Market at Junction Cidery (April 27, 11AM-4PM): Celebrate Spring at Junction Cidery with small businesses and artists, food, and drink! Presented by Junction + SALT,  the Spring Orchard Market is family and pet friendly.  

Spring-O-Ween Market at Market Square (April 27, 11AM-4PM): Halfway to Halloween! Eerie Spring vibes with delightful creations to spark joy and carry you through to the spooky season. Catch Cry Baby Workroom and other local vendors there.

Community: 

Champagne and Cake Show at CFB Esquimalt Wardroom (April 7, 1PM): Meet local island event vendors for a range of celebrations! Ocean views from every window, with a lounge bar,  champagne, and cake. All proceeds going to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation. 

Mayfair Mall Spring Fair (April 25-28): Amusement park rides for all ages, fair food, and games! 

Cold Comfort Ice Cream Celebrates 10 Years in Fernwood at 1115 North Park Street (April 7, 3-7PM): *No parking* Walk, ride, bus, or cycle down to celebrate Cold Comfort’s 10-year anniversary at their brick & mortar shop in the beloved Fernwood neighbourhood. Enjoy a magic show, music, food, and free Cold Comfort cones!

Culinaire at Victoria Conference Centre (April 24): *Join the ticket waitlist* Experience fine food and beverages from the region with chefs, restaurateurs, mixologists, brewers and winemakers. A space to try new food and beverages and gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for their origins.

Family: 

Earth Day at Jordie Lunn Bike Park (April 21, 11AM-2PM): Celebrate Earth Day with many family-friendly, free activities and community partners. Tree saplings provided by Westhills Land Corporation, Rhino Coffee drinks and treats, bikes to borrow from Broad Street Cycles, and crafts with West Shore Parks and Recreation. The Goldstream Nature House and Greater Victoria Green Team will also be hosting sustainable and educational  activities. 

Beacon Hill Children’s Farm (Now open daily from 10AM-4PM): *Weather permitting* An educational and economical form of entertainment to help children foster a respect and appreciation for animals. Daily goat  stampedes at 10:10AM and 4:10PM. 

SCRAPPY LAST SATURDAYS at Supply Victoria (April 27, 10AM-11AM): *Free* Craft  workshops for  families with children ages 7-12. April’s workshop is printmaking with Valerie Salez!

Family Yoga with Eve Carty at The Lab Westshore (April 28, 2-3PM): An opportunity for children ages 5-10 and their parents/guardians to spend quality time together. The class will include yoga games, partner poses, mindfulness practices, breath-work, songs, sounds and stories. ($35 per duo).
