Things to do in Victoria, BC in October 

Summer in Victoria has come to an end and we are filled with nostalgia and the happy buzz of the autumn season’s cozy sentiments.

There is no shortage of ways to fall in-love with October on the island…

Fall Markets and Festivals 

Local Artisans + Secondhand Sundays at Bastion Square Public Market (October 1, 11am-4pm): Local artisans and vintage, retro, and upcycled goods! Plus live music and hot dogs (veggie options available). 

The ReLove Market at Market Square (October 7 & 8, 12pm-6:30pm): Community, connection, creativity, and small business love! Come shop secondhand and vintage clothing, accessories, housewares and more. 

Apple Harvest Fest at Ross Bay Villa Historic House and Museum (October 7, 10am-2pm): Enjoy delicious home-baked apple treats and tea in the garden. 

Black Berry Festival at St Mary in Metchosin (October 7, 11am to 2pm): Frozen blackberry pies, jams, jellies, and other baked goods for purchase, as well as warm blackberry pie to enjoy by the slice! 

Bewitched Market at Metchosin Community Hall (October 21 & 22, 11am-5pm): Market vendors, hourly prize draws, talented readers, and activities for children!

Halloween Market at the DaVinci Centre in Vic West (October 14, 11am-4pm): Local artisans, spooky vibes, food, music, and more!

Out and About 

Royal Victoria Marathon (October 6-8): Join the marathon, half marathon, 8K, 5K, or Thrifty Foods Kids Run! The Royal Victoria Marathona offers online training groups and motivational and educational webinars.

Family FUNdays! with Kaleidoscope Theatre (October 22, 9am-12pm): Drop in anytime for storytelling, dress-up, and crafts to encourage creativity and play!

Tot Tuesday RETURNS — Salmon Celebration with Shaw Centre for the Salish Sea (October 10, 10:30am-11:30am): Calling parents and preschoolers to join the centre’s educators on Tuesdays mornings for special ocean-themed stories, crafts and activities. From Squishy Squids to Turtle Time!

Halloween

Engineering for Kids — Halloween Maze Workshop with SEAPARC (October 28, 4pm-5:30pm): For ages 8-12, learn how to design and create Halloween-themed mazes in this fun workshop that supports creativity and problem solving, with a spooky ambiance!

The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Victoria Theatre (October 20, 27, 28, 31): Let’s do the time warp! Watch the cult classic live at the Victoria Theatre.

Treat Street Halloween Spooktacular with Peninsula Celebrations Society (October 31, 4:30pm-6pm): Downtown Sidney will be closed to traffic for little ghosts, goblins, and princesses to enjoy a family trick-or-treating event!

Halloween Craft Day with Victoria West Community Association (October 21, 1:30pm-4:00pm): An afternoon of fun including arts and crafts, face painting, a bouncy castle, and pumpkin carving!

Candlelight: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics (October 14, 7pm & 9pm concerts): At the Christ Church Cathedral, Candlelight concerts offer a multi-sensory live musical experience in an awe-inspiring setting.

Zombie Walk 2023 (October 14, 3pm): Victoria’s annual Zombie Walk is back on October 14, hosted by the Umbrella Corp. West Coast Operations, zombie walk your way to Centennial Square in Downtown Victoria for 3pm.

Classes and Events at Spirits Haunted Journal (Various dates & times): Take an Intro to Tarot class, or make your own, Witchy Hat, Haunted Polymer Clay Fairy House, Haunted Journal Cover, and more!

Halloween Express at Heritage Acres (October 20 & 2* Times TBC): Spooky train rides and family fun!
