Things to do in Victoria, BC August 2023 

There’s no shortage of local music, food, and community events this summer across South Vancouver Island.

Outdoor movie night at the Saanich Fairgrounds | Saturday, August 19, gates open at 5:30pm, movie begins at dusk 

Bring your outdoor setup for a nostalgic viewing of Grease under the stars! 

Summer Concerts 

Sidney on Sundays (Beacon Park) | Sundays, 2:00-4:00PM 

August performances include Late Shift; Soul Shakers, Freeze Frame; and Eagle Eyes Tribute. 

Music in the Park in Brentwood (Pioneer Park) | Wednesdays, 6:30-8:30PM, until August 16

Vendors available for a picnic dinner among live music and good vibes! 

Movement

Cycle of Life Tour | August 26-27

A fundraiser for hospice care on Vancouver Island. Riders will take on a two-day cycling tour of South Vancouver Island, with an overnight stay on Salt Spring Island. Click here for registration and ways to support.

Yoga in the Park (Tulista Park) | Wednesdays, 6:00-7:00PM 

A free, outdoor community Hatha Yoga class. Bring your own mat!

Boomtown Block Party | August 19 

A rad patio, cute pups, & really good food! Boomtown is having a party August 19.. we heard there’s contests for the best dressed pooch and skateboarding trick, plus a BBQ & margaritas—what more could you ask for! 

If you are inspired to try something new, the Cameron Bandshell in Beacon Hill Park is the spot for you this summer.

Garden City Harmony | Wednesdays, 5:30-7:30PM

A drop-in choir! All you need is a desire to sing in community. 

Sweet Succulent Success | Wednesdays, 5:00-6:00PM 

Limited supplies, arrive early to secure your spot and create your own tin can succulent planter. 

Zumba | Thursdays, 3:00-4:00PM

All ages welcome! Latin dance-inspired movement to support fitness! 

Qigong | Thursdays, 4:00-5:00PM 

Movement, breathing and meditation to support body, mind and spirit. All are welcome! 

Swingin’ in the Shell | Thursdays, 7:00-9:00PM 

Join a 30-minute beginner lesson with the Swing Dance Association of Victoria. For all ages, bodies, and abilities!

Latin Sundays | Sundays, 4:00-7:00PM 

Beginner level Latin dance lesson followed by live music and DJs.

Pizza Pop Up and Live Acoustic Music at Bilston Creek Farm | Sundays, 11:00AM-5:00PM

On August 6 only, enjoy fresh wood-fired pizzas starting at noon, with a live performance by Anna Bigland-Pritchard! Click here to reserve.

Live acoustic music continues Sundays at Bilston Creek Farm for a special afternoon in the orchard of this idyllic lavender farm.

All Sooke Day Family Picnic | August 19 

Gather at Fred Milne Park for live music, local vendors, food trucks and a traditional salmon BBQ, hosted by the Sooke Community Association. A Kids Zone for the little ones. Plus the Sooke Lions Pancake Breakfast and comedy shows, there’s truly something for everyone, all day! Click here to learn more.

Free community yoga classes offered by Kristyn Rose (@kristynroseyoga), all levels are welcome, just bring your mat and water bottle!
